At Sarah’s Pet Services, we believe great dog care goes beyond walks. It’s about building confidence, skills, and trust. Kit has been hiking dogs with us since 2024, and we couldn’t be happier that he is expanding his role with SPS as a trainer.
Growing Into a Skilled Dog Trainer
Kit is about to graduate from the Karen Pryor Academy, a well-respected program focused on positive reinforcement training. With this foundation, he plans to take on more training clients and eventually offer group classes, expanding the ways he can support dogs and their families.
Kit’s goal is to help dogs and their people enjoy time outside together safely and happily. As he puts it, he loves teaching dogs “how to woods” — helping them build confidence, social skills, and positive experiences on the trail.
His work as a dog hiker also plays a big role in that growth. Watching dogs over time — seeing them become calmer, more confident, and better socialized — is one of the things he enjoys most about the job. Currently training under Ryan, Kit is already working with some clients through coaching sessions.
The Joy (and Humor) of the Trail
For Kit, nothing beats the energy of happy dogs playing outside. That “pure dog joy” is what fuels him every day.
Of course, hiking comes with memorable moments too. One favorite story involves a missing winter bootie — and a heroic golden retriever named Kip who later emerged from the woods proudly carrying it. A perfect example of teamwork (and classic retriever instincts).
A Passion for Learning and Partnership
Kit credits much of his growth to Wrynn, his partner dog in the training program. Together, they’ve worked through new ideas, techniques, and challenges, building a strong learning partnership along the way.
